Rising McDowell
 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, pianist and vocalist Rising McDowell has been described as captivating, magical and unforgettable. Rising plays to transport listeners to another world—one where life's stresses are washed away with beauty and enchantment. She began piano at age 6, competed for over 12 years, won numerous first place prizes, and now brings her soothing and uplifting performances to listeners across Austin. Her repertoire spans a wide range of classical, romantic, impressionistic, jazz, contemporary, and popular pieces.

As a vocalist Rising has performed a cappella, solo on keyboard, with guitarists and in small bands. Rising's uniquely smooth and dreamy voice is inspired by timeless jazz and soul icons like Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole. Her vocal training began at age 11 through the Los Angeles Children's Chorus—one of the nation's leading treble choirs—where she sang with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and LA Master Chorale at venues including the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Rising now sings live across Austin, both solo and with her partner in their acoustic duo, Kitcher & Rising.
